MACD Membership

MACD is the state association that works hand-in-hand with conservation and natural resource partners to promote the work of Conservation Districts as Michigan's local boots-on-the-ground conservation and natural resource leaders.

With a strong membership base, MACD can:

  • Lead our state-level advocacy program, with the goal of state-level general operations funding for each and every Conservation District. For the third fiscal year in a row, with your help, MACD was able to advocate for an additional $3 million appropriation, totaling $9 million, accounting for $120,000 per district. We know for some districts that an additional $40,000 per year isn't much, but for others it's been a game-changer. In 2024, MACD will continue to work hard in Lansing to advocate for additional state operational funding for our membership.

  • Engage in state-level policy activities to strengthen locally-led conservation and the delivery of programs through the locally trusted resource of Michigan Conservation Districts. This includes representation on various advisory committees (e.g. MAEAP, and other programs).

  • Provide outreach to citizens to help grow the understanding of our hands-on, local approach to cutting-edge natural resource management.

  • Provide robust information, education, and networking opportunities to strengthen Districts' ability to provide conservation assistance to landowners, managers, and all citizens of Michigan.

Conservation District Membership

Only Conservation Districts' directors and staff are actual "members" of MACD. Individual members are enrolled in MACD through their Conservation District's membership. Districts can select from four levels of membership: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
